new Class 70 Model by Fleischmann

The Fleischmann model of the DB-series 70 (bay. Ptl 2/3) 2-4-0 in H0

Critics

This model is supplied for the first time by GFN with a NEM650-compatible interface with 6 pins. Unfortunately this ruins the view through the cabin .
The motor is a three pole standard N-Gauge type . It provides good slow running characteristics to the model and even at higher rates the engine runs very calmly.
The current supply is conducted by all wheels. The drive wheels are against the specification in the enclosing note without detention tires. Thus a good base is created for current supply.
The leading wheels are clearly too small because of the oversized flanges. The carrying axle is fixed in the framework, the first set of driving wheels is movable to prevent derailing in narrow bends. The rear driving wheels is supported by small springs (!!!) .
The front clutch hooks somethimes.
The lighting is fortunately provided by micro bulbs again.

Apart from these small or remediable lacks this is for me the model of the century! When I began collecting model railways 35 years ago, I had not even dreamed of a model detailed in such a manner. At that time the 'supermodel' of the class 70 came on the market in the Fleischmann-classic-1/82-scale . It had cost DM 49, -.

Faulhaber-Motorchange

The motorizing is calm and sufficient. Nevertheless an improvement seems possible:

SB Modellbau, Olching, offers a motorizing replacement which should be however reconsidered by the constructor:

The engine with a long worm shaft is only bonded, the shaft is not supported at all. That is not a masterpiece and suggests in the long term severe technical problems.

Rather recommendably seems the offer of remotorizing by
Euromodell Fonfara + Parato GBR, Roggensteinerstr. 28, D-82140 Olching, known e.g. for the famous improvement of the Arnold N-Scale Koef II-0-4-0 Diesel-switcher with very efficient rotor and superhandling characteristics.
